Two weeks before

Pick your launch date (Tuesday to Thursday are less crowded than Monday).
Decide: self-launch, or line up a hunter with a real audience.
Write your tagline (60 characters) and a clear description.
Prepare gallery images and a 30 to 60 second demo video.
Set up a BetaList listing and a waitlist page to warm people up.
Draft your first comment: the maker’s story, not a pitch.
Line up 15 to 20 people who’ll genuinely show up on the day.
Start posting #buildinpublic on X so launch day isn’t a cold start.

Launch day

Go live at 12:01am Pacific to get a full day on the leaderboard.
Post your maker’s comment first (the story behind why you built it).
Share on X, LinkedIn, and the subreddits that fit, as a story not a spam drop.
Post a Show HN if your product is technical.
Reply to every comment within minutes. Momentum compounds.
Cross-list on Uneed, Peerlist, and Tiny Startups the same day.
Message your supporters. Ask for honest feedback, never for upvotes.

The week after

Thank everyone who showed up, by name where you can.
Post three build-in-public updates on X with what you learned.
Write one honest Indie Hackers recap: the numbers and the lessons.
Turn the best feedback into your very next update.
